Volunteer Opportunities

Campus Events

Habitat for Humanity at the University of Guelph not only participates in international builds, but also helps out at local builds right here in Guelph! Habitat Wellington-Dufferin Guelph is always looking for volunteers to help out. This is a great way to get involved with Habitat and the Guelph community. No previous experience is required!

If you have any questions, or are interested in participating in the next build, please contact our Local Builds Coordinator Danit (freedmad@mail.uoguelph.ca).

Become A Volunteer

If you are interested in volunteering email us at habitat@uoguelph.ca or come talk to us in person at the Habitat Club Office Room 227 (located at the top of the UC carpeted stairs).

We are always looking for new volunteers!

Campus events gives students a chance to put their ideas into action, to build partnerships with people who share a common goal, and to deepen their commitment to social action. Our campus chapter had three major goals:

Education: To educate fellow students and the community about the need for decent, affordable, housing and how Habitat for Humanity fits into the solution.

Fundraising: To raise money in creative ways in order to fund Habitat work both locally and internationally.

Construction: Participation in local and international builds to give students hands on opportunities to put their goals into action and create lasting partnerships with Habitat affiliates.

Habitat for Humanity at the University of Guelph leads and participates in several trips to the Southern states and Central America. This is an inexpensive way to travel somewhere warm over reading week, all while volunteering for a good cause and gaining valuable experience!

The trips take place over Winter Reading Week. Each U.S. trip has 15-20 spots available for volunteers and the Central America trip has 12-20 spots. Trips are led by two Guelph students who apply and are interviewed by the Habitat executive.

If you decide to participate you will be spending several days on the build site. No experience is required! You will be supervised by qualified instructors and will not be asked to do anything you're not comfortable with.

On the days you are not building, groups explore popular tourist attractions as well as the beach!

Note: You must have a valid passport and be a student or alumni of the University of Guelph.
